Karen Silver is 99.9% (100%) Pure Fine Silver. There is no mixing and no added ingredients. It is softer than sterling silver, but will not tarnish as quickly if worn frequently. Fine silver is easier to clean, and has a texture that is soft and complex - very different from its Sterling counterparts.
Black Karen Silver is a silver item that has gone through an oxidation process; this causes the silver to turn black. Final polishing leaves black coloring only in the grooves of the piece for extra definition.
Vermeil Karen Gold uses a nickel-free process. The pure silver is plated with 1 micron of 18K gold for strength then followed by 2 microns of 24K gold. This gives the gold a lasting antique look and feel. |
